Tomato Scarcity; The pest behind it, and affected States.

The current scarcity of tomato has drawn the attention of the federal government, and has so far identified six(6) states – Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Plateau and Lagos – where the pest called 'tuta absoluta', also known as ‘tomato ebola’, has highly disrupted tomato production across the country.

The federal government is currently taking measures on how to curb this destructive pest which may cripple the country's provision for food. Foreign experts are being consulted and work is really in progress.
