Two Fulani herdsmen bags 20yrs jail in Delta

A Delta State High Court, hearing in Asaba had yesterday, sentenced two Fulani herders, Hassan Abidu and Yakubu Salem, identified to be members of a group of armed nomads terrorizing indigenes of Ibusa and its environs, especially farmers, to 20 years in prison with hard labour.

The court declared the guilty verdict on the two Fulani herdsmen, who were indicted on a two-count charge of unlawful ownership of guns favored against them by the Attorney-General of the state, culpable under Section 3(1) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act Cap R.II, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2010, and were sentenced to 10 years detainment each with hard labour and without a option of fine on the two count.

According to prosecution, it was read that on or about February 23, 2015 at 6a.m., the Ibusa Police Division got a distress call that a gathering of suspected Fulani young men numbering around six were sited around Power Line, Ibusa equipped with dangerous weapons including guns.
